So, I know, OK, yeah, I am upside down.” Holladay, like many stunt performers, is much better at making movie magic than at talking about his role in it. Stoicism and avoiding attention are part of the traditional stunt performers’ code. But for this interview, he’s being thrust into the spotlight by his Fall Guy director, David Leitch, a former stuntman who is part of an industry effort to get stunt performers more recognition for their work, and perhaps one day even an Oscar. The title comes from Poe’s 1839 short story of the same name — but each of the eight episodes is jam-packed with adaptations and references to stories and poems from Poe’s entire body of work. It’s clear that the minds behind The Fall of the House of Usher brushed up on 19th-century literature.

And he and Flanagan are poised to reunite with Life of Chuck, a Stephen King adaptation currently under development. Within this growing web of scary stories, Flanagan has not only dropped in Easter eggs for eagle-eyed fans but has also employed a riveting ensemble of recurring players. If you recognize one of the characters in The Fall of the House of Usher's scream face, from the Usher kids to the broader Usher family tree you've probably seen it elsewhere in the Flanagan media universe, also known as the Flanaverse. In recent years he's appeared in movies like Legends of the Fall, Suicide Kings and Cloak & Dagger.

T’Nia Miller is Netflix regular at this point between recurring in Sex Education and The Diplomat, in addition to her acclaimed turn in Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Bly Manor. In The Fall of the House of Usher, she plays one of Roderick’s many illegitimate children, Victorine LaFourcade. Victorine and her girlfriend/business partner Dr. Alessandra “Ali” Ruiz are developing a high-tech “heart mesh” device and eager to push it forward to human trials.

The series brings to Poe’s work a modern twist, as the feuding members of the Usher family get killed off one by one. So, class, cue up your streaming devices and let’s take a dive into this list of the chilling Poe references in The Fall of the House of Usher. Like some of those other series, "The Fall of the House of Usher" is an adaptation. But rather than adapting a single work, it adapts the entire breadth of Edgar Allan Poe's poetry and fiction, morphing it into a modern-day amalgam that addresses classism, trauma, the inherent corruption of enormous wealth, and the opioid epidemic, among other topics. All of the spooks, extended monologues, and literary homages that fans of Flanagan's work would expect are here. Overall, it's another hit for the horror maestro, adding to one of the most impressive creative runs of the streaming era.

Loosely based on various works by 19th-century author Edgar Allan Poe (most prominently the eponymous 1840 short story), the series adapts otherwise unrelated stories and characters by Poe into a single nonlinear narrative set from 1953 to 2023. It recounts both the rise to power of Roderick Usher, the powerful CEO of a corrupt pharmaceutical company and his sister Madeline Usher, the firm's genius COO, and the events leading to the deaths of all six of Roderick’s children. It stars an ensemble cast led by Carla Gugino as a mysterious woman plaguing the Ushers, Bruce Greenwood as an elderly Roderick and Mary McDonnell as an elderly Madeline. The filmmakers digitally removed a safety line they used, for instance, to drag the real Gosling across a bridge at 30 miles an hour. It wasn’t that long ago that industry observers watching the introduction of digital stunts on films like Titanic predicted that human stunts would disappear entirely.

Described by Frederick as “Gucci Caligula,” Perry is the youngest of the Usher children. Having only recently been thrust into the life of the ultra-rich, Perry’s goal is to make life one big party, and he’s hoping to use his family’s money to achieve just that. Roderick Usher is the patriarch of the Usher family and CEO of Fortunato Pharmaceuticals. After acquiring Fortunato with the help of his twin sister, Madeline, the Usher family has found success and wealth at the cost of the greater good. An ambitious and driven man, Roderick expects the most out of his six children, giving them access to every resource imaginable — except his fatherly affection. The actor, who played Sturge in “Midnight Mass,” is cast here as the fitness guru husband of Tamerlane Usher (Samantha Sloyan).

She's also worked with Flanagan on "Doctor Sleep," playing Silent Sarey, and on "The Midnight Club," playing Paragon founder Aceso. Most recently, Miller has been stepping even deeper into the realm of sci-fi TV, playing Cherise Nuland in the William Gibson adaptation "The Peripheral" on Prime Video and Zephyr Halima Ifa on the Isaac Asimov adaptation "Foundation" on Apple TV+. In "The Fall of the House of Usher," Gugino takes on the role of Verna, a mysterious and supernatural figure who haunts the eponymous family. Verna is one of the great mysteries of the show, though her true nature becomes more and more clear as the story continues. With the exception of Goodwin, Nuñez and Jun, each of the new additions have worked with Flanagan and Macy before on previous projects, with many having been specifically involved with Flanagan and Macy’s production company Intrepid Pictures.

Most recently, Trucco has been starring in the popular CBS drama "Fire Country" as Luke Leone. He also played Taylor Swift's boyfriend in the video for her 2011 song, "Ours." From 2019 to 2020, Gilford starred as Detective Ben Walker on the Spectrum Originals series "L.A.'s Finest" alongside Gabrielle Union, Jessica Alba, and Ernie Hudson. “The Fall of the House of Usher” is described as a modern remix of the short story of the same name by Egdar Allen Poe and multiple of his other works.

In November 2023, Roderick Usher, the CEO of pharmaceutical company Fortunato Pharmaceuticals, loses all six of his children within two weeks. Auguste Dupin, an Assistant United States Attorney who dedicated his career to exposing Fortunato's corruption, to his childhood home, where he tells the true story of his family and unveils the Ushers' darkest secrets. The Fall of the House of Usher is an American gothic horror drama television miniseries created by Mike Flanagan. All eight episodes were released on Netflix on October 12, 2023, each directed by either Flanagan or Michael Fimognari, with the latter also acting as cinematographer for the entire series. In order for stunt performers to earn a competitive Oscar, their community will have to complete a veritable parkour course of Academy bureaucracy.

The daughter of Frederick and Morella, Lenore is a kind and empathic young woman whose tendencies always lean toward making the conscientious choice, rather than the one that’s best for the family. Morelle (based on the Poe story “Morella”) is Frederick Usher’s wife and the mother of Lenore (Kyliegh Curran). Victorine (named after a character in “The Premature Burial”) is a scientist who has sparked gruesome rumors with her experiments on chimps. She works with her more skeptical partner, Dr. Allessandra Ruiz (Paola Núñez).

Roderick and Madeline (played by Mary McDonnell) make a formidable duo. But a downside to all that drive and ambition is the fact that she would step over her brother if she had to, regardless of the love she has for him. Ahead of the first trailer for The Fall of the House of Usher — which arrives tomorrow — EW has the exclusive intel on the main cast of characters. The mother of Frederick and Tamerlane, Annabel Lee was Roderick’s only real love. Her warmth and trusting nature always helped her to find the best in Roderick… and her trust in her husband might have left her blind to the dangers encroaching her family. Extremely cunning and biting, Camille L’Espanaye runs the PR for the family.

But between Tamerlane's ruthless ambition and curious kinks, Usher might offer Sloyan's most compelling role yet. When she's not working, Sarabeth hosts the My Nights Are Booked Podcast and a blog dedicated to books and interviews with authors and actors. An avid TV and movie fan, her perennial favorites are The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, true crime documentaries on Netflix and anything from Passionflix. You’ve Got Mail, Ocean's Eleven and Signs are movies that she can watch all day long.

Bruce Greenwood - Roderick Usher

Named after a real-world literary critic and rival of Edgar Allan Poe, Griswold serves as both the antagonist and evil inspiration for young Roderick and Madeline Usher. The series is Trucco's third Mike Flanagan project, as he previously played John in 2016's "Hush" and Wade Scarborough in "Midnight Mass." In addition to her work with Flanagan, Parker's credits include playing Bernadette on "Masters of Sex," Nicole on "Rizzoli & Isles," and the leading role of Val Mayfield in the sci-fi series "Alt." Auguste Dupin, one of the most interesting characters in "The Fall of the House of Usher." The character of the same name in Edgar Allan Poe's fiction is a detective, considered by many to be the precursor to more famous literary investigators like Sherlock Holmes. In the show, Dupin is an investigator of a different sort, serving as both Roderick Usher's adversary and the man to whom he confesses his many sins. Seasoned actor Mary McDonnell is one of the Mike Flanagan newcomers in "The Fall of the House of Usher." But though she hasn't worked with Flanagan on any past projects, there are still plenty of movies and shows where you've likely seen her before.

She can also be seen in Mayfair Witches, Midnight Mass, #Freerayshawn, Barry, and more. Morelle Usher is a former model and actor who is now the devoted wife of Frederick and mother to Lenore. Malcolm Goodwin brings a younger version of Auguste to life, who was an investigator, proving that the character has long been looking to do the right thing and find justice. The actress previously had smaller roles in The Haunting of Hill House, The Midnight Club, and The Haunting of Bly Manor.

In this new Netflix series, he plays Napoleon “Leo” Usher, another illegitimate child of Roderick’s, is a bisexual video game creator (supposedly) with a serious drug addiction and spends most of his time partying or dealing to his friends and siblings. Not only is Sapkota pretty new to the Flanaverse, but he was also discovered by the horror auteur. The young actor with the mischievous gaze made his screen debut in 2022 in The Midnight Club, a drama series based on the Christopher Pike novels of the same name. In The Fall of the House of Usher, he's moved beyond teen angst to twentysomething debauchery, and with a devil-may-care charm, he invites us all along for the ride.

Production

He leaves a mark on both series, and it should be exciting to see what the young star gets into moving forward, be it more Flanagan collaborations or entirely new projects. In "The Haunting of Hill House," Siegel plays Theo Crain, who possesses the strange ability to read people psychically when she touches them. In "The Haunting of Bly Manor," she plays the much darker role of Viola Willoughby-Lloyd, the original owner of the titular estate.

Netflix’s ‘Fall of the House of Usher’ Cast Revealed: Mark Hamill, Carla Gugino, More

Next, he played a video game designer in The Midnight Club, which he does again in The Fall of the House of Usher. As a bi fuckboi covered in trashy tattoos, fueled by party drugs, and driven by a self-destructive attitude that will be his doom, he's a total cad. As one of the two surviving members of the Usher family in “The Fall of the House of Usher,” Roderick is one of Poe’s character doubles, or doppelgangers. Roderick is intellectual and bookish, and his twin sister, Madeline, is ill and bedridden. Roderick’s inability to distinguish fantasy from reality resembles his sister’s physical weakness. Poe uses these characters to explore the philosophical mystery of the relationship between mind and body.

T'Nia Miller as Victorine

Mike Flanagan's latest horror miniseries, this one tackling Edgar Allan Poe tales, has announced its cast. We’ve cobbled together this list of Flanaverse all-stars and rookies in a “House of the Fall of Usher” character guide, so you can keep track of who is who, and where and when you’ve seen them all before. Miller is often found in genre fare and outside of Netflix has also starred in Apple TV+ series Foundation and Prime Video’s Peripheral (RIP still not over that one getting reverse-canceled). Samantha Sloyan plays Roderick Usher’s eldest daughter Tamerlane Usher. Tamerlane and her husband Bill are dedicated to launching a goop-like lifestyle brand called Goldbug. Tamerlane and Frederick are the only two siblings born to Roderick and Annabel Usher, all the others have different mothers.

Samantha Sloyan as Tamerlane

He's married to Morella "Morrie" Usher (Crystal Balint), a former model and actress who left that life behind but longs in some respects to feel like that woman again. After Gerald's Game, it's now Gugino's turn to torment Greenwood on screen. In The Fall of the House of Usher, the actress stars as Verna, previously described as a shape-shifting demon. Roderick and Madeline first meet her, appearing as a mysterious woman, one fateful night in their younger years. She makes a surprise return decades later, at the height of Fortunato's power, to massacre the heirs to the Usher fortune, drumming up Roderick and Madeline's long-kept secrets in the process. House of Usher will put a new twist on the short horror story by writer Edgar Allen Poe.

“When I got in the business 30 years ago, people said I had 10 years left,” O’Hara says. ” Many modern tentpole films devote their third acts to the destruction of computer-generated worlds and characters, but O’Hara thinks he still has a job because audiences can feel when there are real human bodies at stake. “When everything is so visual effects-heavy, I don’t know what’s real and what’s not real [in those films],” he says. Universal is leaning into the appeal of human stunt performers to promote the film in other ways, too, launching a Fall Guy-themed stunt show produced by Leitch’s company at its Hollywood theme park to run through May 19.

In the book, Pym stows away on a ship and survives a shipwreck, mutiny and cannibalism. Roderick Usher is a wealthy pharmaceutical patriarch who proudly welcomes all his children by different mothers. The skeletons are coming out of his closet as he faces his final reckoning for a life badly lived. Siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher have built a pharmaceutical company into an empire of wealth, privilege and power; however, secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty sta... Robert Longstreet plays Longfellow, the murdered CEO of Fortunato, and is the father to Madeline and Roderick. Frederick Usher is the eldest of the Usher family and the natural heir to his father’s company.

She's another Flanagan frequent flyer with roles in The Midnight Club, Midnight Mass and The Haunting of Hill House. He's done a ton of voice work in addition to roles in shows like Supergirl, This is Us and S.W.A.T. He also is very well known for his role as Marcus Dixon in Alias. Mary McDonnell is well known to Battlestar Galactica fans for her portrayal of President Laura Roslin. Greenwood has a Flanagan connection after starring in 2019's Doctor Sleep, as well as previously starring with Carla Gugino in Flanagan's thriller Gerald's Game. Like other stars of "The Fall of the House of Usher," Gugino has worked with Flanagan extensively, including on "Gerald's Game," both "Haunting" series, and "Midnight Mass." Siegel married Flanagan in 2016, and has starred in several of his projects, including "Hush," both "The Haunting of Hill House" and "The Haunting of Bly Manor," and "Midnight Mass."

“The Last of Us,” “Poker Face,” “Bluey,” “The Bear” and “Jury Duty” are among this year’s additional nominees as the Peabody Awards’ board of jurors revealed 27 nods for its arts, children’s/youth, entertainment, and interactive & immersive categories. They join the 41 nominees across its documentary, news, public service and radio/podcast categories announced by Peabody earlier this week. You might not know Katie Parker's name, but if you've been following Mike Flanagan's work for a while, you definitely know her face. Parker started working with the writer-director all the way back in 2013 with "Oculus," in which she plays an unnamed store clerk. She joined "The Haunting of Hill House" as the ghost of Poppy Hill and returned in "The Haunting of Bly Manor" to play Perdita Willoughby-Lloyd.

He’s also one of the most popular voices for the Joker in the DC animated universe. He’s also appeared in Creepshow, The Sandman, Knightfall, and, as a prolific voice actor, has lent his voice to dozens of animated projects. Verna plays a mysterious woman with supernatural abilities that appears to be haunting the Usher family.

POP False Ceiling Designs Best Suited for the Living Room

Classic pop designs are inspired by traditional and ornate designs. They typically feature intricate floral and vine patterns, as well as elaborate moldings and cornices. Classic pop designs are perfect for formal spaces such as dining rooms, living rooms, and bedrooms. Floral pop designs are inspired by nature and feature intricate floral patterns and designs.

Contemporary Pop Design

The POP design for hall runs along the corners of the room, offering dimension to an otherwise plain ceiling. It also gives the separate living and dining areas a uniform look, making them a part of the same space. Concealed lighting in this POP ceiling design for hall with 2 fans also gives a good glow effect. The installation process for pop designs is relatively simple and straightforward. It involves applying a base coat of plaster of Paris to the ceiling or wall, followed by a second layer of plaster that is molded and shaped into the desired design. Instead of keeping the centre element plain and basic, light fixtures are added to make it glow after dark. This concept is ideal for a small square-sized room and the colours can be chosen depending on the interior colour scheme. White is typically used to paint POP false ceiling designs, but you can also choose any other colour of your choice.

Here’s a design for those of you who love to experiment with different styles. Ditch the basics and embrace the new with a zigzag POP design for your bedroom ceiling. Since this style can add a lot of visual interest to the space, be sure to keep the rest of your interiors simple to retain this as a highlight.

If you are interested in 3D and realistic art, this ceiling can be a great idea! Instead of a boxy design, a unique waveform is created, and the sides are cut accordingly. This luxury Pop ceiling is guaranteed to give you the best sleeping experience in your bedroom. The stylish T-bar, suspended ceiling highlights the bed, along with shielding it from direct lighting. You can either go for a coloured element or keep it in white for visible brightness. The term “Pop” stands for Plaster of Paris, which is a dehydrated form of Gypsum.

Another perfect way would be to combine different materials with POP to achieve a unique look. For instance, the ceiling can be recessed and covered with wood panels, and then a suspended POP ceiling element is added in the centre for that extra décor. These types of ceilings have artistic designs carved on them to give a more traditional and royal look to the living room. Coupled with proper lighting, these types of ceilings can make your guests look upward when they enter the living room. As an architecture and interior designer, I am passionate about creating spaces that inspire and delight those who inhabit them.

You can use Pop Designs, wallpaper love, commercially, personally, editorially, etc. There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a POP design for hall. A POP design in hall can really brighten up the space and make it more inviting.

While my grandparents embarked on this venture in their late fifties, I was a mere ten-year-old at the time, eager to help the family business. Despite my love for the hospitality realm, I veered toward the promise of stability in a conventional office job, complete with a reliable paycheck and benefits.

Rooibos Teas

The chocolate notes smooth out the intensity of the peppermint to create a mild, mellow, delicious cup of tea. The infusion of sweet, fragrant apricots produces a bright, bold flavor profile. An infusion of Madagascar vanilla lends a smooth and silky finish to the bright flavors of the cup. A favorite among many Tea House guests, this black tea is blended with dried peaches and full-flavored apricots, and then infused with essential oils to enhance the delicately smooth flavor profile. A deep, intense black currant aroma and flavor comes from the dried berries themselves, blended with a Ceylon black tea base, to give a fruity and bright flavor profile to this medium-bodied tea.

After seven years in the corporate world, the urge for authenticity became undeniable. In 2017, I made the decision that would reshape my future – I left my office job and returned to my roots as the operator of The Tea House on Los Rios. Here, I discovered the resonance of my calling, a purpose that not only brought me joy but also allowed me to perpetuate a cherished family legacy. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind high tea experience in Orange County, The Tea House on Lios Rios, located in the Los Rios Historic District of San Juan Capistrano, is the perfect choice.

The decision to transform this dream into reality led them to establish a sanctuary for afternoon tea, a refuge where time slows down and memories are made. Though times have changed and years have passed, the dream lives on through Damian, the Niccola's grandson, who has been involved from the very beginning. Many years ago, Arianna Niccola Smith and her closest friends discovered a magical place for tea.

Because it’s caffeine free, I’m able to enjoy a cup or two throughout the day. Rooibos is combined with rosehips, elderberries and blueberries, and finished with fragrant lavender, creating a floral and fruity bouquet that will entice all your senses. This slightly sweet tea can be taken with milk, but delicious as is. Sweet, creamy and chocolaty, this bright, bold tea has a velvety smooth finish, with an intoxicating fragrance to go with it. The Tea House on Los Rios has a rich history rooted in the vision of the Niccola family, who sought to create a haven away from the pressures of modern life.

This full flavored herbal tea combines dried blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries to create a wonderfully deep, complex berry flavor. The hibiscus adds a tart dimension to the sweet blend, while the rosehips add a mellow smoothness. Madagascar vanilla bean natural essential oil sweetens this Rooibos, producing a rich and full bodied cup with almond notes on the finish. One of our most popular teas, this smooth herbal tea will soon become a favorite of yours as well. Our black chai features a blend of top-quality, freshly ground spices – cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, pepper, and cloves – and Indian black tea.

Dried watermelon and papaya pieces are blended with an Oolong from the Fujian Province of China to create a wonderfully refreshing and flavorful tea. Naturally sweet and bold in character, this tea is perfect hot or iced, especially on a summer day. This divine blend of Chinese black tea, peppermint leaves and natural chocolate flavor not only smells wonderful, but tastes even better.

This commitment is a significant factor behind our patrons’ enjoyment, whether they’re celebrating milestones or savoring a solitary meal. Regardless of the challenges that arise, I’m confident in my ability to confront them head-on alongside my exceptional team and our steadfast supporters. My heart longed for the warm embrace of the restaurant industry, the captivating allure of Los Rios Street, and the simple delight of sharing tea with souls seeking solace.

the tea house on los rios

Today, that legacy lives on as their grandson Damian welcomes guests from all walks of life to unwind, relax, and connect with loved ones at The Tea House. I love the fact that we are a family owned and operated company, and that we have been able to grow due to our love for this business, and I think it carries through to each customer. It’s also fun because people who join us are usually celebrating something – we host a lot of bridal and baby showers, birthdays and anniversaries – so it is amazing to be a part of those special moments with people. In a world caught in the constant whirlwind of activity, their vision was a breath of fresh air.

How LA Foodies Get in Shape

the tea house on los rios

January of 1998 marked a milestone as they swung open their doors, ushering in the inaugural guests to The Tea House on Los Rios. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers? The Tea House on Los Rios was born from the passions of my grandparents, Allan and Claudia Niccola. Over twenty-five years ago, they embarked on a mission to infuse tranquility into modern life through the art of tea. The concept was simple yet profound – to offer respite from the daily grind and rekindle connections with loved ones over a soothing cup of tea.

Blackberry Bramble Black Tea

I longed for the restaurant industry, the ambiance of Los Rios Street, the idea of taking tea. So I left the corporate world and came back to my roots and take over The Tea House on Los Rios. In addition to truly finding my calling, I am able to carry on my family’s legacy of a place that so many hold near and dear to their hearts.

Herbal Teas

In today's stress-filled society, such a place would be truly exceptional, relevant, and healing. I had to have some to bring home and I've been enjoying it ever since. This tea evokes childhood summers in the bright blaze of a strawberry patch.

Green Teas

As an only child (until the age of 15), I connected more with adults than I did with kids my own age, so I spent more time at the restaurant and working with my family. The Tea House on Los Rios stands out as a truly exceptional brunch destination in the area, making it a must-visit for those seeking a distinctive dining experience.

Shop Herbal Tea

The sun streams into red Rooibos with sweet fruity aromas, capturing the essence of summer in berries, grapes, black currants and hibiscus flowers. Large, superior grade Lapsang Souchong leaves are dried over a pinewood fire, giving this tea a distinctive smoky aroma and flavor. Welcome to The Tea House on Los Rios, located at the heart of beautiful San Juan Capistrano, California! We invite you to join us for an extraordinary high tea experience that will transport you to a charming bygone era.

Light Bites

The realization that I am blessed to be able to pursue what I love and continue a legacy is something that constantly humbles me. It’s easy to become engrossed in the day-to-day challenges and triumphs, but reminding myself of the fortune I’ve been given instills a deep sense of gratitude. The Niccola family quickly recognized the significance of creating a place where people could forge meaningful relationships. They envisioned a special, serene setting where guests could enjoy each other's company.

However, if I were to pinpoint the most pivotal lesson among them, it would undoubtedly be the profound significance of maintaining a sense of gratitude and humility as I navigate this path. Originally a quaint cottage, The Tea House was lovingly restored by the Niccola family in the 1990s. At the time it was a legal requirement to live on the property to have a business on Los Rios Street. Allan and Claudia Niccola purchased an 80-ton, two-story Victorian house and had it moved from Camino Del Avion to its current location directly behind The Tea House. If you're looking for a more substantial meal, our daily menu offers delectable options.

THIS VENUE DOES NOT HAVE ANY REPORTS AT THIS TIME.

Milk and sugar will enhance the chocolate flavor, but this tea is delicious as poured. Grown and harvested from the Kagoshima prefecture in Japan, this traditional steamed and pan dried green tea is known for its light color, smooth body and reasonable depth. A pleasant and approachable green tea that is perfect for everyday consumption. An exquisite blend of black and green tea leaves, perfumed with Jasmine and accented with blue cornflower petals. This tea is noted for its seductive, citrusy, bergamot flavor, uplifting aromas and medium body. The cottage’s renaissance took nearly three years of dedication – restoring its timeless charm, cultivating enchanting gardens, curating exquisite tea blends, and crafting a menu that echoed their devotion.

While we have grown a great amount over the past couple of years, there is still room for growth, and to grow takes money. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Owning and operating your own small business is never an easy road, but it is very rewarding. I am often not only the front of house manager, but depending on what is needed, I can be washing dishes, decorating a cake, filing sales taxes, and serving tables.

Deep cherry flavor with almond notes create a silky, delicious cup of tea. The flavor profile of freshly picked cherries adds a pleasant and subtle sweetness to the nutty almond character and intensity of the Ceylon tea it is blended with. This “Champagne of Tea” is renowned for its light body, crisp floral undertones and purity in taste.

It took over two years to restore the cottage (most of which we did as a family), plant gardens, come up with a menu, and open their doors. Our blend of fruit pieces, including peaches with rosehips, hibiscus and natural flavors produces a beautiful ruby red drink. It’s loaded with peach flavor, with a tart undertone and sweet finish. Natural orange essential oil, dried orange peel and fresh cinnamon not only create a wonderfully aromatic tea, but a delicious one as well. Bold citrus notes are enhanced by the cinnamon, a combination that energizes and soothes at the same time.

We’d love to hear more about your business. We specialize in Afternoon Tea, a concept that we, as Americans, don’t traditionally do. Our guests get to enjoy loose leaf teas in mismatched china, our famous scones with raspberry preserves and our Early California Cream, a wide variety of delightful finger sandwiches, and fun desserts. The exotic character of one of our most popular teas is created by combining high quality Sencha, essential cherry oil and rose petals, giving it a sweet and melodious flavor, and wonderful aroma. A refreshing, robust flavor profile is produced by the piquant, sweet mangos that are blended together with Ceylon black tea. Bold, bright and full of flavor, one sip of this tea will transport you to the tropics in no time.

The sharp flavor is distinctive and bold, making it popular among those who prefer a strong cup of green tea. Smooth, sweet watermelon and light, refreshing cucumber notes take this green tea to another level. Mellow and mild, this tea will brighten your morning or can be used as a natural afternoon pick-me-up. Essential rose oil, soft, pink rose buds and large leaf tea from China are blended together to create an aromatic delight and provocative flavor that will leave your taste buds wanting more. The sweet fragrance and aroma of the wild blackberry is captured in this delicious tea, making it one of the most popular here at The Tea House.

Lump mesquite charcoal bags are piled up behind a kitchen window, giving customers a small taste of their process. Luscious lule (ground meat) skewers center on either beef chuck roll or chicken thigh, which get seasoned with onions and spices and beautifully express charcoal smoke. Pork baby back pork ribs sport nice sears that don’t actually lock in juices, as the myth states, but clearly still help boost eating enjoyment. Kebab plates come with rice, grilled tomato and pepper, and a potent red pepper sauce folded with onions, paprika and parsley.

Start with luscious beef lule, marinated iki bir (pork belly), and beautifully charred marinated sweetbreads, which are a fairly uncommon find. Plates come with rice and plenty of salads and dips to fill the two other compartments in a Styrofoam container. Options include ikra, spicy, smoky eggplant dip; and sweet, creamy shredded beet salad sprinkled with crushed walnuts.

Proshyan serves some of LA’s best pork shawarma and grills kebabs over glowing mesquite charcoal embers. They mold beef and chicken lule (made with ground thigh) around stainless steel and also cook marinated pork shoulder chunks that are notably juicy for such lean meat. Other options include iki bir (marinated pork belly), iki bir skewered with skin-on potatoes, and chicken breast. Skewers come in lavash wraps or on plates with parsley, chopped white onions, sliced tomato, and enough lavash to form a pillow. Spinach yogurt salad and Armenian salad both lend welcome brightness. The Kirakosyan family has parked their vivid truck in front of NoHo’s Royal Fresh Super Market since 2019. Armenian Lunch Truck serves excellent shawarma, and the action extends to the sidewalk, where cooks tend to an adjacent charcoal grill. Beef lule (ground meat), marinated pork ribs, and iki bir (cubed belly meat) are all notably luscious and smoky. Plates come with rice, Armenian salad, tzatziki (yogurt folded with minced cucumber), spicy tomato sauce, and grilled tomato and jalapeño.

Scored pork baby back ribs with crispy topside fat also stand out. Scour their refrigerated case for complementary salads and dips. Aria Butcher Shop also operates down Glenoaks Boulevard in Glendale, but they don’t grill at that location.

Considering LA has such large populations from countries with kebab-rich traditions like Armenia and Iran, it’s natural that skewered meats are a strength across LA County. Prominent pockets in Glendale, North Hollywood, Sunland and the western San Fernando Valley are particularly strong. Of course, great kebabs aren’t completely limited to the (818) or the Middle East and Caucasus.

Emin Davoudi-Chigani runs Foothill Market & Deli in a Sunland strip mall and spun off the butcher shop as Meat Guys in early 2021. A printed menu lists proteins they can cook in an open-mouthed, stainless steel gas grill, but it’s just as easy to pull from display cases. Legends Of The National Park Guide Book

Each client is approached with a special sensitivity to their unique project needs. The Spirit of Nashville collection was our maiden voyage into the world of poster design. Since 2003, we've created over 160 designs depicting what we love most about Music City. This video was produced by one of our clients after we created their logo and fell in love with their products.

Averaging 4-10 new designs per week, Team ADG has produced over 3,000 designs, including poster art for each of the National Parks. Aaron was raised in Nashville, where he dedicated his early years to drawing cartoons and making corny jokes. Finding illustration and graphic design the perfect fit for his odd skill set, he attended Watkins College of Art, Design, and Film. In his spare time Aaron enjoys eating strawberry flavored foods, building replicas of TV show & movie props, watching Japanese Anime, and teaching people Photoshop. Now he excels in illustration, hand lettering, logo and package design, and fixing our computers when they're on the fritz.

Their pork kebabs are particularly great, especially khrchik, bone-in rib tip chunks that still have cartilage attached. This cut provides a wonderful chew that sheyka (boneless baby pork) can’t match.

Skewers come in lavash wraps or on plates with parsley, chopped white onions, sliced tomato, and enough lavash to form a pillow. Hovik Martirosyan and wife Alvard turned their tiny side street restaurant into a beloved Armenian kebab destination with help from social media savvy son Armen.

At low tide, hike down to the base of New Brunswick’s Hopewell Rocks, a marvel of nature created by melting glaciers and carved by the highest tides in the world. And save an afternoon for a true “downeast” lobster bake with fresh-from-the- ocean lobster drizzled with butter and all the trimmings. Along the coastline of Canada & New England is where the deep-blue sea meets rich autumn hues. Québec City’s iconic Chateau Frontenac is where you’ll find the best views of the Saint Lawrence River.

What types of clothes should I pack for a Canada and New England cruise?

In main and specialty dining, we ask guests to refrain from wearing swimsuits, see-through coverups or robes, bare feet, tank tops, T-shirts, and baseball caps. If you are not a U.S. citizen, you will need a passport to enter Canada. It’s your responsibility to check the requirements, so consult your government’s website before traveling. The capital city of Canada’s Quebec province has enough charm and culture to entertain any type of traveler. The north of New England, at the tail end or beginning of your adventure, you'll find Old Quebec, a 400-year-old town that oozes European romance. Take a walking tour of this UNESCO world heritage site, making sure to take in views of the Citadel, the St. Lawrence River and the Chateau Frontenac (reputed to be the most photographed hotel in the world).

Revisit history from Colonial times

And bonus — if you book towards the end of September, you might luck out with the start of the leaves changing from green to vibrant red, orange, and yellow hues. Based on the average high temperatures, July and August are the warmest months to visit Canada and New England, right in the middle of the summer season. If you want a cooler experience, visit in April or May at the beginning of the season (you’ll avoid the highest crowd levels as well!) or in September and October at the end of the season. To make the most of your day in Portland, this tour combines the city highlights with a visit to historic Portland Head Light and the charming seaside town of Kennebunkport. The one-way sailing travels from New York to Montreal (or vice versa, with overnights in each city), and the ships visit Quebec City, Saguenay and Gaspe in Quebec; Halifax, Nova Scotia; and Boston. The overnight in Quebec City also offers an opportunity to enjoy one of Canada's most charming cities after dark.

Standard cabins are on the smaller side, but their modern look and sumptuous beds are appealing. For a splurge, the larger suites will not disappoint discerning travelers. One of the most enjoyable things about spending a day in port is trying the local food — and on a Canada and New England cruise, it helps if you love seafood. Perhaps the ultimate place to mix a guided tour and independent exploration is Quebec City, which was founded in 1608.

DON’T LET CANADA & NEW ENGLAND SAIL AWAY

Viking's 12-night Eastern Seaboard Explorer itinerary aboard its identical 930-guest ocean ships, Viking Neptune and Viking Mars, is offered on two dates in September 2024 and four dates in May and September 2025. All cabins are spacious ocean-facing suites, and 90% of the ships' accommodations feature a veranda. The ships might be small, but they still offer four onboard restaurants, including the line's new Mediterranean restaurant, Solis. Travelers who enjoy dining at different venues each night will appreciate the ship's five specialty restaurants (for an additional cost) and more than half-dozen complimentary dining venues.

Canada and New England aren't the only regions of the U.S. known for their fall foliage. American Cruise Lines offers several small-ship sailings in October to other leaf-peeping regions, including the Hudson River Valley, the Upper Mississippi and the Chesapeake Bay. Most itineraries call in Portland, Maine; Saint John; Sydney; and Halifax. The second reason is that tendering takes time, especially on a large cruise ship carrying 3,000-plus passengers. Guests who book a shore excursion with the cruise line typically have first access to the tenders.

There are about a dozen main ports on the Canada and New England cruise circuit, and most itineraries don't visit all of them. If you have your heart set on exploring Maine's Acadia National Park, make sure Bar Harbor, not Portland or Rockport, is your cruise's stop in Maine. Mainstream lines Princess and Holland America do offer clubs for kids and teens, but their ships generally appeal to couples and don't have waterslides and other thrill-based activities.

You can enjoy gourmet cuisine by Thomas Keller, complimentary wine and cocktails, and a friendly crew that will go above and beyond for you. If your social media feeds are blowing up with beautiful pictures of fall foliage, you're likely feeling the urge to set out on your own leaf-peeping trip. Sure, you could plan an epic road trip, complete with traffic jams and overpriced, overcrowded tourist traps.

Dating back to the 17th century, they today continue to retain much of their old charm… and have developed a few new tricks in the centuries since. Find out what makes this part of the world so special on one of Carnival’s cruises to Canada and New England. Here, we've picked the best fall foliage cruises for different itinerary configurations and ship styles. They might be our favorites, but only you know which combination of ports and onboard experience is the perfect match for your travel style.

Plus, even though fall also gets chilly, spring doesn’t command a premium the way fall does because it’s not the prime season for leaf-peeping. Here, we’re going over the best time to go based on the weather, the pricing, the crowds, and — of course — leaf peeping opportunities. If you happen not to find what you're looking for, you can even post a question of your own. Volendam will sail nine- to 11-night Canada cruises in August and September 2025 as well but with slightly different routings.

You might be surprised how much choice you have for late-September and October fall foliage cruises. In addition to Seabourn, all the major luxury cruise lines dedicate a few cruises to this region — including such lines as Silversea Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Windstar Cruises, Oceania Cruises and Crystal. Big ships like NCL's Norwegian Breakaway also get into the leaf-peeping action.

Known as "La Belle Province" (The Beautiful Province), cruises are calling on some of the region's most picturesque and historic ports of call, from tiny Saguenay to picturesque Quebec City and cosmopolitan Montreal. Maine is known for many things, from its startlingly beautiful coastlines and national parks to its variety of historic sites. Explore beautiful coastal towns, hike around breathtaking national parks, and stroll through historic districts by taking a cruise along the East Coast of the United States and Canada.
