Building Relationships

Young black tea leaves from the Margaret’s Hope tea plantation lend a taste and fragrance similar to muscat grapes, and provides the perfect, mild accompaniment to any afternoon tea. Known as the “Coffee Lover’s Tea”, this stout, robust blend of Kenyan and Assam black teas has strong, deep malty character notes and a bright coppery color with floral notes that add complex depth to the cup. High tea is further elevated with tart bergamot orange tastefully tempered by creamy vanilla, then blended with the classic pomp of an Earl Grey black tea. This full leaf wonder is divinely delicious with a silky sweet finish. They loved the concept of taking tea, where you can reconnect with friends and family while getting away from the stresses of everyday life. They found it refreshing in our hustle and bustle society, so they decided to open up a place for high tea.

Bourbon Street Vanilla (Rooibos)

While my grandparents embarked on this venture in their late fifties, I was a mere ten-year-old at the time, eager to help the family business. From laying the centuries-old brick walkway, dishwashing, and then table service for guests, I soaked in the rhythms of the restaurant. Despite my love for the hospitality realm, I veered toward the promise of stability in a conventional office job, complete with a reliable paycheck and benefits.

Rooibos Teas

The chocolate notes smooth out the intensity of the peppermint to create a mild, mellow, delicious cup of tea. The infusion of sweet, fragrant apricots produces a bright, bold flavor profile. The intensity of the summer fruit is mellowed by the Ceylon black tea it is blended with, creating a unique and wonderfully fresh cup. A blend of three Chinese black teas, this flavorful, full bodied tea is known for its subtle aroma and smooth finish. Combining two black teas from two of the very best tea producing regions of the world creates a wonderfully smooth yet robust cup.

Very aromatic with a fruity, floral flavor, this premium herbal tea is made using only the finest Egyptian chamomile flowers, and has definite body while remaining light and mild. Cocoa truffle notes from the cacao bean produce a rich, luxurious palate in this wonderfully smooth rooibos.

An infusion of Madagascar vanilla lends a smooth and silky finish to the bright flavors of the cup. A favorite among many Tea House guests, this black tea is blended with dried peaches and full-flavored apricots, and then infused with essential oils to enhance the delicately smooth flavor profile. A deep, intense black currant aroma and flavor comes from the dried berries themselves, blended with a Ceylon black tea base, to give a fruity and bright flavor profile to this medium-bodied tea.

After seven years in the corporate world, the urge for authenticity became undeniable. In 2017, I made the decision that would reshape my future – I left my office job and returned to my roots as the operator of The Tea House on Los Rios. Here, I discovered the resonance of my calling, a purpose that not only brought me joy but also allowed me to perpetuate a cherished family legacy. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind high tea experience in Orange County, The Tea House on Lios Rios, located in the Los Rios Historic District of San Juan Capistrano, is the perfect choice.

The decision to transform this dream into reality led them to establish a sanctuary for afternoon tea, a refuge where time slows down and memories are made. Though times have changed and years have passed, the dream lives on through Damian, the Niccola's grandson, who has been involved from the very beginning. Many years ago, Arianna Niccola Smith and her closest friends discovered a magical place for tea.

Because it’s caffeine free, I’m able to enjoy a cup or two throughout the day. Rooibos is combined with rosehips, elderberries and blueberries, and finished with fragrant lavender, creating a floral and fruity bouquet that will entice all your senses. This slightly sweet tea can be taken with milk, but delicious as is. Sweet, creamy and chocolaty, this bright, bold tea has a velvety smooth finish, with an intoxicating fragrance to go with it. The Tea House on Los Rios has a rich history rooted in the vision of the Niccola family, who sought to create a haven away from the pressures of modern life.

This full flavored herbal tea combines dried blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and strawberries to create a wonderfully deep, complex berry flavor. The hibiscus adds a tart dimension to the sweet blend, while the rosehips add a mellow smoothness. Madagascar vanilla bean natural essential oil sweetens this Rooibos, producing a rich and full bodied cup with almond notes on the finish. One of our most popular teas, this smooth herbal tea will soon become a favorite of yours as well. Our black chai features a blend of top-quality, freshly ground spices – cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, pepper, and cloves – and Indian black tea.

Dried watermelon and papaya pieces are blended with an Oolong from the Fujian Province of China to create a wonderfully refreshing and flavorful tea. Naturally sweet and bold in character, this tea is perfect hot or iced, especially on a summer day. This divine blend of Chinese black tea, peppermint leaves and natural chocolate flavor not only smells wonderful, but tastes even better.
